Her journey didn’t begin on a stage — it began with seeing what others chose to ignore.

Growing up with humble roots, Siti Rahayu Baharin understood early that opportunity is not equally given. But instead of accepting this reality, she chose to challenge it.

She saw children in the streets — bright, curious, full of potential — yet disconnected from education.

And she asked a simple but powerful question:

"No child should be left behind — not because of where they are born, and not because of where they stand today."

“What if education could go to them?”

That question became a movement.

Today, she is known as Cikgu Rahayu, a passionate educator, activist, and co-founder of Buku Jalanan Chow Kit — a grassroots initiative that has touched countless lives across Malaysia.

ABOUT BUKU JALANAN CHOW KIT

Buku Jalanan Chow Kit is more than a program — it is a movement.

It was created to reach children who are often left out of the formal education system — children from underserved, marginalized, and urban poor communities.

Instead of waiting for them to enter classrooms, the classroom goes to them.

Under streetlights, in public spaces, and within their communities — learning happens.
